Across more than five decades in banking, I built a career defined by trust, governance, and decisive leadership across some of the industry’s most exacting environments, from the British banking system to complex international markets in the Balkans and beyond. My work has consistently sat at the point where strategy, credit, and accountability meet, shaping institutions through growth, oversight, and high-stakes transition, while maintaining the discipline of strong controls and the human clarity required to lead people through change.

I began my professional journey with Barclays Bank, where I developed a rigorous foundation in credit evaluation, operational standards, and relationship-led commercial banking. Over time, I moved into increasingly senior roles, from assessing lending propositions and advising the Local Director, to leading Business Centres. Those years were formative, building the instincts that matter most in corporate banking, commercial judgement, pragmatic risk assessment, and the ability to earn confidence from clients ranging from high net worth individuals to growing enterprises.

My experience then expanded to the highest levels of credit governance when I joined Barclays Central Advances in London, evaluating complex credit risk and preparing presentations for the Board of Directors. Returning to Cyprus, I supported onshore and offshore operations as Senior Corporate Director of Barclays operations on the island, aligning local strategy with central governance and ensuring performance without compromising standards.

In 1997, I joined Cyprus Popular Bank and entered a long phase of international leadership, board oversight, and transformation work. My responsibilities ranged from building and guiding offshore operations to serving as Chief Representative in Serbia and advising on cross-border strategy. This period culminated in executive leadership as Vice Chairman and CEO of Laiki Bank Serbia, where I guided the organisation through critical transitions and operational demands that required both strategic foresight and calm execution.

Alongside executive roles, I have maintained deep involvement in governance and assurance, including board and audit responsibilities and senior audit leadership across international operations. Whether as an independent audit committee member, board director, or international audit leader, my focus has been consistent: strengthen controls, uphold regulatory discipline, and ensure institutions operate with integrity even under pressure. Later, as Special Administrator, I led complex restructuring and strategic repositioning, including subsidiary disposition, work that calls for resilience, clear prioritisation, and the ability to make hard decisions with transparency and fairness.

From 2017 onwards, I served as Chairman and board member across multiple financial institutions and held leadership and board responsibilities. These roles reflect a career-long commitment to stewardship, not simply managing performance but safeguarding institutions, guiding strategy, and building the governance that enables durability.

My professional standing is supported by internationally respected qualifications and a commitment to continuous development. I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers London (ACIB), a member of the British Association of Banking Teachers and Practitioners, and I have completed senior management development at Barclays Ashtown Park Training Centre in London, with focus areas including senior management, corporate lending, and banking law. I also served as a Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Economics, reflecting my belief that strong institutions are built through both practice and the disciplined transfer of knowledge.
